From a region of Italy that is famous for the production of the highest quality white wines. The historic family owned winery is located in the mountainous terroir of Northern Italy, bordering Slovenia and Austria.
We are so incredibly impressed with this barrel aged Chardonnay, that we confidently assert stands up to expensive white Burgundies, Chablis or California’s finest, at a fraction of the price. More akin to the Mâconnais as it is more fruit forward with more intensity than a standard Bourgogne Blanc. This is truly a majestic Chardonnay and to those who don’t love heavily oaked Chardonnays, you will love this.
It has a deep straw yellow colour with golden highlights. The nose is elegant and fruity with pleasant vanilla hints and bread aromas. Golden delicious apple, ripe pear, a subtle note of pineapple and warm lemon on the palate as well as notes of hazelnut and toasted almond. It also shows a lot of freshness and persistance (but not lean) with smoky hints. Impressive structure, buttery, dry with a viscous texture and is an absolute pleasure to behold in the glass. This Italian Chard is most certainly punching well above its weight. It’s an absolute winner for Chardonnay lovers and we’re sure it would even convert those who aren’t.
Food pairing: Rich creamy pasta dishes, mushroom risotto, medium aged and chalky cheeses, meaty fish dishes, shellfish such as lobster, shrimp, crab, scallops, oysters, white meats (great with a turkey dinner!) or Sushi and sashimi.
Once a slight over ripeness on the vines is reached the whole grapes are gently pressed to obtain the must followed by a cold static decantation. The fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats under controlled temperature. Follows a slow ageing and refining in 500 litre oak barrels. The wine is released after one year and a half after the harvest.

This very special winery is located in the beautiful hills of Friuli, known as Italian White Wine Heaven: Friuli-Venezia Giulia, which in their mother tongue are called “Altùris”: a geometry of reliefs engraved by vineyards. Although the region is relatively small compared to the rest of Italy, it ranks among the best for producers of white wines.
It is in this revered place that Marco and Massimo Zorzettig, heirs of a historical family, which has been a symbol of solid entrepreneurship in the wine world for three generations, founded Altùris.
The winery is devoted to the creation of exquisite wines, capable
of carrying all the scents and aromas that the grapes of this unique terroir offer.
At the far North East of Italy, close to Venice and at short walk from Cividale del Friuli at the border with Austria and Slovenia, Altùris vines benefit of an unique microclimate. The Julian Alps protect them from the cold winds of North, while the breezes from Adriatic Sea smooth and mitigate the climate, offering the vineyards exceptional conditions to produce grand quality wines.
The production at Altùris winery is set for 70 percent whites and 30 percent reds. They also produce incredibly great reds.
