Altùris Müller Thurgau IGP Trevenezie 2020

From Friuli Venezia Giulia, a famous wine region of Italy on the border with Austria and Slovenia, that is known for the production of the highest quality white wines.

Müller Thurgau is the 2nd most planted grape in Germany. It is a cross between Riesling and Madeleine Royal, which produces especially lively, aromatic white wines in Alto Adige.

It was created in 1882 in Geisenheim by Professor Hermann Müller from Thurgau in Switzerland. In addition to its tones of nutmeg that are typical for the variety, depending upon its location, Müller Thurgau sometimes develops mineral-rich traits, floral aromas (lilac, geranium), citrus fruit, and black currants.

This very fine example offers a delicate and intense bouquet of elegant floral notes. Distinctly pleasant aromas of honeyed mango and citrus fruit with a  subtle minerality. Dry, velvety, fresh aromatic flavour. Excellent character, complexity and viscosity. A real pleasure to drink.

Vinified in glass lined cement tanks ‘Sur Lie’ after harvesting by hand.

A classic wine for aperitifs and fish-based appetisers. Pairs extremely well with white meats, or fresh and fat cheeses.

This very special winery is located in the beautiful hills of Friuli, known as Italian White Wine Heaven: Friuli-Venezia Giulia,  which in their mother tongue are called “Altùris”: a geometry of reliefs engraved by vineyards. Although the region is relatively small compared to the rest of Italy, it ranks among the best for producers of white wines.

It is in this revered place that Marco and Massimo Zorzettig, heirs of a historical family, which has been a symbol of solid entrepreneurship in the wine world for three generations, founded Altùris.

The winery is devoted to the creation of exquisite wines, capable
of carrying all the scents and aromas that the grapes of this unique terroir offer.

At the far North East of Italy, close to Venice and at short walk from Cividale del Friuli at the border with Austria and Slovenia, Altùris vines benefit of an unique microclimate. The Julian Alps protect them from the cold winds of North, while the breezes from Adriatic Sea smooth and mitigate the climate, offering the vineyards exceptional conditions to produce grand quality wines.

The production at Altùris winery is set for 70 percent whites and 30 percent reds.  They also produce incredibly great reds.
