Château du Garde AOP Bordeaux Clairet 2019
120 in stock
If you like your wines red, but want a chilled glass on a summer’s day, try this charming Clairet.
Bordeaux Clairet as opposed to Claret, is a wine that is dark pink, almost red in style and may be described as a full-bodied and deep-coloured type of rosé. It is considered a specialty of the Bordeaux region and is thought to have originated in Quinsac in Premieres Côtes de Bordeaux. It’s very popular, but not easy to find in the UK & Ireland markets. It’s a style that has almost disappeared. An easy drinking wine that is best served chilled.
This example of a Bordeaux Clairet is truly delicious. Light scarlet in colour. It’s crammed full of cherry and cassis on the nose. Silky red cherry and cassis on the palate, with a creamy edge. So deliciously fruit filled and silky-rounded at the edges. A winner at your next summer BBQ that will please both red and rosé drinkers.
Bordeaux Clairet has a well-balanced acidity, making it very versatile for food pairing. It loves BBQ, Pasta and Spicy Food.
Harvested in the early morning, to keep the fruitiness and freshness of the grape. Maceration for 10 to 12h in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks to ensure the extraction of tannins and color. Fermentation at low temperature (16-18 ° C).
Sustainably produced, the winery has a High Environmental Value level 3 certification.

The Château du Garde today is the story of 5 generations of the same family that began in 1925 when Antonio Subra, originally of Spanish origin, bought the first plots of land.
Located under the appellation of Côtes de Bordeaux, the Château du Garde benefits from a terroir conducive to the production of great Bordeaux wines. The property now covers 39 hectares.
After four generations, the Château du Garde has unique know-how. Independent winegrower, involved in the environmental cause, the Château du Garde is part of a sustainable development approach and holds its High Environmental Value level 3 certification.
Today it is the great grandson, Jean-Benoît Subra who runs this fantastic, small, family owned single Vineyard in Bordeaux. He is on a mission to create the future stars of Bordeaux. Jean-Benoît Subra says “it is said that a good winemaker is always dissatisfied. We are constantly looking for excellence and originality, so my work keeps going from year to year, for your pleasure and also mine because, let us not hide it, a happy winemaker is a winemaker who makes you happy.”
