Abundant citrus notes on the nose lead to a tasty mouthful of grapefruit, gooseberry, hints of pineapple and a tangy orange/marmalade dance happening on the finish. Well balanced with a nice soft landing. A new favorite.” The Wine Buyer, 92 Points
The pronounced, complex scent of Sancerre is reminiscent of tomato leaves, asparagus, passion fruit, elderflower and freshly cut grass. The fruit predominates and makes you want more. In the mouth you experience an elegant wine with beautiful mineral notes and lively fresh acidity. The palate reflects aromas of pickled artichokes, elderberries, green pepper and fine exoticism of unripe pineapple and passion fruit. Shortly before the finish, it delivers spicy aromas of meadow herbs and peppers.
Sancerre Blanc by Roger Reverdy Cadet & Fils is a single-variety Sauvignon Blanc from the famous village of Sancerre in the upper Loire, the cradle of Sauvignon Blanc. Due to the dry, cool climate and the limestone soils, Sancerre is one of the highest quality appeals for Sauvignon Blanc worldwide. The wines impress with their longevity and eye-catching minerality. Fragrance and taste are very harmonious from these locations. After fermentation, the wine rested in the steel tank to better show off its natural aromas.
Food Pairings: Sancerre and goat’s cheese is a match made in heaven, although the wine goes very well too with light-bodied fish like sole, or a simple roast chicken. Also wonderful with Asian dishes like Pad Thai
Sancerre is the Loire’s most famous appellation, producing distinctively smoky, flinty Sauvignon. In the Eastern Loire, in fact, many people refer to Sauvignon as “blanc fume”.
Limestone and flint are the two most important soil types in Sancerre, both having great heat-retention and light-reflecting properties, which help the grapes to ripen in what is viticulturally a cold region.
