Description

This is quite simply an incredible noble sweet wine. An exquisite Austrian Grüner Masterpiece.

Delicate green-gold in color and a cool style make this wine so unique. Fresh, rich, creamy and complex.  Lifted by electric, fresh acidity. On the nose there are aromas of  dried fruits and honey with black pepper spice, then pure Grüner Veltliner character. Ripe pear, peach, exotic fruits, honey, fennel, liquorice, grass and white pepper on the palate . This wine has a wonderful balance between sweetness and acidity on the palate, so its very refreshing, with a long, ligering, herbal finish and endless ageing potential.

If you like Sauternes, then you’ll adore this.

Highly rated on Vivino at 4.3 out of 5 from 91 customer ratings.

This is a type of late-harvest dessert wine made from grapes that have frozen on the vine. The grapes can’t be harvested until the first hard freeze of the year, which means they sometimes aren’t picked until after the new year in the Northern Hemisphere. The grapes are pressed while still frozen, which yields juice with a higher concentration of sugar due to the water in the grapes being frozen.

For 40 years WEINRIEDER produces world class sweet wines in the Weinviertel region of Austria. This experience is mandatory to produce thrilling wines with a unique style. The electric acidity not only balances out the residual sugar of these sweet wines, it also lays the foundation for decades of aging potential.

Vegan friendly. Serve well chilled at about 8 °C

These wines are listed in some of the top Michelin Star restaurants in the world and have consistently rated from 90-95 Points from Robert Parker, the Wine Advocate. Decanter Magazine 90/92/93/95/95 points and Wine Spectator 92/92 points. From Wolfgang Puck’s Spago in Beverley Hills, to Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck Restaurant in London.

Considered to be one of the best wines of Austria by International Wine press and critics. This unique winery is located in Kleinhadersdorf west of the municipality of Poysdorf in the Weinviertel wine-growing region in Lower Austria. The vines cover just 20 hectares of vineyards in the best south and south-west locations on loess and clay soils in the Birthal, Bockgärten, Hohenleiten, Kugler and Schneiderberg vineyards.

The south-westerly location and the proximity to the forest give the grapes a cool ripeness with fine fruit and beautiful acidity.

Soil: loess / sand / gravel, south-west facing, near the forest

Wienrieder Family Vineyard Austria

In the vineyard, natural viticulture takes place with protection of beneficial insects, greening, as well as rigorous yield limitation through short pruning and consistent thinning. Very late grape harvest, gentle processing, minimal use of cellar technology and long aging on the lees result in wines with strength and character.
