Description

France’s hot southeast has traditionally been known for its big, chunky fireside reds. A blend of typical grapes from the region – Syrah, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon, but a little more Rhône in style, with both Grenache and Syrah dominating. An intruiging pot-pourri of aromas and flavours. Rich, dark fruit showing some appealing maturity. Beautifully textured, dominated by red fruits, herbal notes and sweet spice. Smooth, silky, evolved tannins impart magnificent complexity. A lovely long generous finish.

Located only 20 minutes from all the atractions of AIX (home of Cezanne), however the estate’s cutting-edge art, architecture, sculpture park and drinkable vineyards might detain you.  Yet whatever the sophisticated charms of Villa La Coste, its specialness lies in its symbiotic relationship with Chateau La Coste. It is a short stroll down to the Chateau’s mirrored lake, complete with a bespoke Louise Bourgeois sculpture of a crouching spider. Provence never looked cooler than on this beguiling art trail, taking in talking points by Tadao Ando, Renzo Piano and Frank Gehry.

Adhering to biodynamic principles, Château la Coste strives to preserve the terroir, protecting its fertility, safeguarding the essence of the soil. The alchemy of blending lives on in a state of the art ‘cuverie’ designed by French architect Jean Nouvel and inaugurated with the grape harvest of 2008. This latest technology ensures the natural expression of the wine and brings new life to a long tradition. In 2009 the wines were given the French organic label “AB” in recognition of the respect shown to the land along with the methods used which are in perfect harmony with nature.
